– Happy New Year lovely followers!! we hope you all had an amazing Holiday and are recovered from that weird transitional period after the holidays are done. i know it took me a few weeks before i stopped wandering around my house wondering what i was doing each time i entered a room. we tried and tested A LOT of products in 2017 and want to continue our Empties series with you here, this time featuring the cleansers or makeup removers we loved and ones we didn’t, check out our thoughts on the ones pictured below:

- if you’ve been following us for awhile you know how much we love our skincare and you may have heard about the Di Morelli skincare line also, well now you can enter to win a box of their new HA Masques for yourself! this mask is one of the most moisturizing i have tried in a long time and i love the how even my skin tone is when i take it off. check out a little more about the benefits of this mask below along with how you can enter to win a box of your own!
A First Timer’s Take on Diner En Blanc
- the White Party, a term i remember coming into intense popularity in the early 2000’s when Puff Daddy ( as he was known then) started having them annually. they faded off ( so i thought) and then came back to my attention in my late 20’s when i started reading about this all blanc party in the park held in France every year. as someone who loves a good theme party this peaked my interest as it sounded so chic and whimsical! fast forward to this year’s blanc party here in Vancouver and our first time attending.
- now please excuse me for saying that we had not attended or even considered attending in years past because while it all sounded very whimsical and fun, it also sounded like a hell of a lot of WORK. read on for a little more of my thoughts on this year’s gathering and decide for yourself if it’s your glass of vino….
The Empties: Beauty Blogger Edition
– Oz and I would like to introduce you to a new segment of beauty reviews, The Empties! in this lovely segment we’re going to take you through the products we’ve incorporated into our skincare/beauty routine, used right to the end an tell you what we liked, disliked and if we would use them again.
– the idea came to me when we did a year in review at the end of 2016, showing you our favorite products and ones we weren’t so fond of or found to be redundant. let us know if you’re a fan of these reviews in the comments as we want to make sure we give you guys the info you crave. check out The Empties below for our take:
Coconut Oil To The Rescue!
– coconut oil has long been recommended and hailed as a miracle product. it’s multi-uses is what makes it a fantastic product to try out as you can incorporate it into body, face, teeth whitening and in food prep. we aren’t here to talk to you about saturated fats in your diet though! we’re here to tell you about our journey with this wonder ingredient and how we use it in our daily lives ( plus there MAY be a giveaway…..).
TGIF! Get Weekend Ready With Us

napkins from Gourmet Warehouse, earrings from Olive and Piper, glass from Chapters Indigo
– we don’t go out on the weekend. well not often, in our 30’s we’re most comfortable in our pj’s with Netflix and a glass of wine ( ok probably tea), add some champagne bears courtesy of Sugarfina and we’re in adult heaven. on the odd occasion when we willingly leave our pajamas at home and venture out to socialize we have a few go to’s that always end up part of our get ready ritual. we would love to share that ritual with you below:
Dermatology with Dermalogica
– i saw my first dermatologist at 16, when my hormonal acne got so bad that i considered going into hiding. ahh teenage hormones, that’s something i don’t miss! i vowed that if i had children who ended up with acne that i would whisk them off to my dermatologist until we got it under control, fortunately skincare products have come along way since then and you don’t have to rely on harsh ingredients when you have a brand like Dermalogica. one of the first skincare brands i worked for ( that shall remain unnamed) still relies on astringents and soaps to combat acne, while the experience and education i attained while working for them was invaluable the wish for gentle but still effective products remains, let see if Dermalogica rises to the occasion:
Giveaway Time: Di Morelli Skin Care
– my first visit to a dermatologist was at 15, i had wicked hormonal acne all along my forehead and was so insecure about it i harassed my mom for ages before she finally requested a referral from our family doctor. i may be dating myself but back then there was no social media giveaway to take part in like the one we are doing today with Vancouver based, Di Morelli Skin Care! no no, you had to suffer through the trial and error process of different product combinations before you finally found one that worked. though it works for some, i am so glad i abstained from Accutane because that’s where i discovered my love of vitamin c and brightening serums! the one prescription product that ended up working for me actually ended up bleaching my pillow cases and sleep shirts, but man was it effective. thank Dr. Tuyp!
David Yurman Vancouver Flagship Opening

– as makeup artists and primarily beauty bloggers we don’t get invited to many fashion centered events, so when we received an invite to David Yurman’s flagship opening at the newly renovated Holt Renfrew Vancouver we couldn’t say no! i mean who doesn’t like free champagne and staring at gorgeous jewels pretending to be able to afford a piece or two?
– seriously though, it is a gorgeous space, right in the center of the alcove that houses Tiffany, Louis Vuitton and the new Holts Cafe, check out a few snaps from the event below:
SBD Favorites: Cadeaux Bakery
– i had the pleasure of visiting Cadeaux Bakery on Powell St just west of Main shortly after it first opened to do a bridal photo shoot, we used some of their cakes and treats in the shots. they just happened to be closed the next day and generously let us take any sweets we wanted home with us! that was the end ( for any type of will power) and the beginning of a delicious obsession with quite a few of my forever favorite treats, take a look:
