I have a huge mane of hair. I’m of Middle Eastern descent with a mostly curly hair texture so that comes with the territory. It’s definitely a hard mane to tame. My hair mostly does it’s own thing, curling where it wants to with the occasional strands of straight hair sprinkled around. I very rarely use products beyond some beach wave/texture spray to help it look somewhat managed. Given full my mane is, the thought of working various product into it has always been frustrating and time-consuming. I’ve come to a point in my life where I want my products to be fewer but more effective.
We’re fortunate to get products for review sent our way. The realities of that is sometimes products work and sometimes they don’t. We always strive for honesty and share the products we feel would be interesting to learn about and most importantly, products that actually work.
The Redavid Orchid Oil line is a 7-in-1 product line that is lightweight in texture while not weighing the hair down. So often hair products create heaviness and this line doesn’t do that.
We tried the full line of products that include a shampoo, conditioner, repair cream, oil and curl cream.
I’ll be honest, with all the different shampoo and conditioners I’ve tried, I can’t always tell whether they work or not. My hair texture has always been in pretty good condition, never too dry and brittle or too oily so when shampoo and conditioners promise something, I have a hard time telling the difference.
I swim a few days a week and we all know that chlorine can damage our hair. Especially if its been colored. My hairstylist is not impressed with my not wearing a swim cap while in the pool. I started using the Redavid Orchid shampoo and conditioner after my swims to see if I’d notice a difference or not and I did. My hair feels softer and dries better. I air dry my more often than not and it tends to frizz sometimes while drying and over the last few weeks I’ve noticed an improvement there. And most of all, and you might laugh at this, but my hair no longer smell of chlorine after my showers. I found I had to use a lot of shampoo to get the smell out and even then it never worked so this was just an added bonus for me.
If I want to style my hair, I would use a bit of th oil and curl cream. Curly hair tends to tangle itself easily and the curls just kind of have a mind of their own. The curl cream doesn’t weigh my hair down, feel crunchy or waxy. My curls just feel like naturally defined curls simply more put together. This is key for me in a curl product as I play with my hair a lot.
Tarah tested out the dual therapy treatment as she uses hot tools more frequently than I do which can cause some dry, damaged ends to the hair. The combination of the repair and shine (which pump out separately or together) provided a smoother finish and reduced the heat damage. She uses it prior to working with a hot tool, while her hair is still damp to help seal and lock in moisture and repair at the same time.
Trying out new products is definitely fun for us but like I said, sometimes we come across products that simply don’t work out the way we’d like for them to but when they do, it’s always a happy day for us and luckily the Redavid Orchid line gets a thumbs up from us!
