how often are we told about the importance of a good nights sleep? I’m always reading and hearing about how important sleep is to our overall health. It begs the question of how many of us actually do get the required 7-8 hours of sleep a night? life stresses, be they financial, relationship or work related cause feelings of unease and anxiety that affect sleep patterns. there are so many variables that can affect how comfortably we sleep at night and the lack of sleep can really affect how well we function during the day. sometimes, irregular sleep patterns even impact how our skin look.
some my girlfriends with children joke that once you have your first child, the concept of sleep is virtually non-existent until they’ve graduated from high school. another friend is such a light sleeper and her sleep is so important to her that she basically shuts herself off from anything sensory that could affect her ability for rest. she wears ear plugs and a sleep mask for the deepest possible sleep she can experience.
I’ve never had much difficulty sleeping. I get the requisite 8 hours a night for the most part. the only time I don’t sleep much is if I’m anxious about something; a flight, my dogs, a freelance gig. otherwise, I sleep like the dead. many of my friends are quite jealous of how deep a sleeper I really am and it is deep. I sleep like the dead with nothing bothering me ever. there is a reason for that, which I will share in a later post.
while the sleep I do get is super essential to how I feel every day, I also think that some of the products I use help me look much more rested. as I’m sure you’ve learned, we’re skin care buffs here on the blog and absolutely spend a lot of time testing out new skin care products for ourselves that we think you guys would also enjoy.
Pixi Beauty is a line that came across my radar a year or two ago when I read the rave reviews about Glow Tonic, an exfoliating, alcohol-free (so important!!) toner. being me, I absolutely had to try it out and as someone who didn’t use toner prior, I didn’t have high expectations or really any expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth my skin felt after trying it. I’ve also used the Glow Pads, an exfoliating treatment that really brightened up my skin instantaneously.
when a few other Pixi goodies made their way across my desk, I was eager to try them having had such good results from the first two products I’d tried. let me tell you, the Beauty Sleep Cream is exactly what my skin needed to wake up looking well rested. It’s a richer, nourishing treatment which is essential to helping your skin while you’re asleep. Waking up and misting the Vitamin Wakeup Mist gave me the jolt I needed to snap awake on morning I was moving slowly. I added the Hydrating Milky Serum to my morning regime and these additions have made all the difference in how my skin looks.
Pixi was only available to us if we crossed the border to our nearest Target or ordered online but luckily you can find Pixi in Canada now at your nearest Shoppers Drug Mart.
while I more often than not get a good nights sleep, for those nights and mornings where I’m looking a little worse for wear, making sure that I’ve got an arsenal of skin care products that help me hide how tired I am really comes in handy. after all, our mothers always tout the importance of a good nights sleep so now we can look it even when we don’t feel it.
